Generally I feel we used to eat too much meat. Now I try to portion meat by weight, and only serve enough to eat at each meal. We do want very tasty food, but not to overeat.
I think I will get enough for 16 portions from this cooking session, which will work out at about £1.50 per portion, including electric! I would serve this with plain rice, poppadoms, some chutneys, and perhaps home made flatbread. If we were hungry I would make a little sag aloo as well. This is our 'Curry Night' treat. Instead of £25 at the takeaway, it's about £8 including a couple of beers each!
So, 8 x £20 ish, saved on takeaways is £160, which is about the return cost of a return trip to France on the ferry from Jersey. We are not rich, we just make our money go further.
while I made the curry, I got the Piccalilli started I plan to make tomorrow. Also when everything was in the curry pot, I then boned out two chickens, and made chicken stock for future gravies and Thai curries. Instructions in two further posts.
