Those who are experienced at gardening will probably be able to point out how shabby my efforts look. No I couldn't (be bothered if truth is known) try to get them level.
However I did get my Husband to help me drive in some long stakes fairly firmly at the back of my L shaped beds on the right. The idea is to grow beans at the back. I just stuck the seed packets at the front to remind me what I planted, I always forget anyway.
The one on the left is made with that solarised soil, and yes the corrugated plastic is to keep the grass down a bit. I am not going to dig up any more of this rough area this year, as I want to know how successful this effort will be first. It will also be interesting to know how many weeds come up in this bed, and if I get bindweed in it.
It was five thirty when I took this picture, so the beds won't go into shade in the summer. Wish me luck!
Yes that is the perfectly good composting bin behind the beds. We have never actually managed to get it working well, still I am going to have another go at it. I think I have a better place to put it.
