This young man should have been under supervision by social services. Except they don’t seem to have a mental health budget or any way of dealing with these issues in the USA. This comes from not having a funded health service. Don’t knock the UK health service, even under the pressure it is suffering its better than not having anything in place.
Turkey has just managed to pull off something incredible. They seem to have backed the USA into a corner over arming and developing a Kurdish army. I don’t think this is in anyone’s interests in the Middle East. Not even for the USA. The long term cycle will simply be another war, either with Iran, Iraq, or Turkey. What’s the point? Just to retain some leverage when it comes to trade routes through the Middle East from China India and Russia?
The sensible way of dealing with this situation is to actually make a nice new country. Each of the countries with a Kurdish ethnic group donating a swath of land, and allowing the Kurds to have a place to call home. Admittedly they are a bit scattered, but they gave over their sovereignty to the Ottoman Empire if memory serves. I would have to look up the History.
Anyway its a similar to the Palestinian situation in many respects. A people without a secure and undisputed home.
Theresa May and Angela Merckel seem to have started some more conciliatory dialogue. It seems to me the UK just want all the smarties they already have and a few more if the truth be known, yet they want them in a different tube. In fact they don’t want them in a smartie tube (EU branding), They want them in a brown paper bag. That’s so they can tell the UK public they are no longer part of the EU!
The UK also want to be able to put other sweeties in their brown paper bag. (Trade deals outside of the EU). Without the EU branding, they think they can subvert the closed shop, protectionist EU, and do deals with India and China, and God forbid the USA. Good luck with that!
I will never accept buying food from the USA. Bleached chicken would not be on my menu.
