I was thinking about doing a little bit on the Major Covenants in the Old Testament.
I use the N.I.V. Study Bible. You can find the page tucked in Genisis on Page 21.
I would imagine the N.I.V. is online if anyone wants to look at it.
I have currently got a clothes peg on the first 20 pages to stop them blowing around.
What surprises me is that from the time of God's Covenant with Noah from Genesis Ch 9 verse 11 to 17, no one has lived by this Covenant. Even thinking ill of someone, or towards someone is the same.
Whatever is done in a spirit of maelevolance (Mael-e-violence) will work it's way into reality.
God told Noah beginning Ch9 Genesis. Look at Verse 3 - 4! I think that pretty well gets us Gentiles on the page as far as permitted foods is concerned.
Verse 5 is a pretty dire warning. Verse 6 is pretty well explicit.
Verse 7 is a Blessing, and a command.
Verse 8 is Historical Contextual.
Verse 9 is Perpetual.
Verse 10 is Co-existant, Co-substantial, and probably something else beginnin with 'Co'. This verse co-relates to verse 6.
The 'New Covenant' Jeremiah31:31-34 has a direct resonance to this Noahic Covanent.
The key factor in Legal terms for me, in terms of Jesus Christ's crucifiction is Genesis verse 6.
God is prepared to sacrifice Himself to the utmost, to make sure everyone understands that there is a Legal precident, that must be mitigated by Grace. (Mercy).
Well that's a bit of an outline, I might get 'aroundtuit' and do more on this, but I feel like I am talking to myself at the moment, which is not a good thing....
I did like all those lovely little scandalous illuminations in the margin of early codex Bibles....
