My thoughts and prayers go to all the people that have lost loved Sons, Fathers, Brothers.
How unspeakably tragic .

Makes me think of the way insects lay eggs on the flower blossom, and the bug has to eat it's way out of the fruit as it matures. Looks rather as though a lot of society has a rotten core problem right now.
I kind of think we are going to have a collapse of the industrial era. Worldwide! Over the last 3 centuries there has been a huge population growth, and with each generation the world population stands to double, If this is the case, there might not be easy solutions to the whole crisis the world economies have engineered over the last few centuries. Continual growth is unsustainable. Over reliance on mass production, mass distribution, and over-consumption looks to me as though there is going to be some mass extinction coming up... It is just not possible to sustain continual economic growth, and population explosion. I was thinking the last few days about the 'old class system', the one that since the 1960s has been replaced with a 'classless' society. One that lacks structure, respect and coherence for each others roles in society. There was a brilliant sketch done on the class system, I think it had John Cleese and the two Ronnies in it, don't hold me to that though. It wasn't about 'class structure' so much as how 'class structure' worked effectively. It was about how money passed from one group of people to another, and how the economic wellbeing of Britain functioned. Now everyone wants to be a 'Chief', and not an Indian. I think there is more genuine poverty now than in the great depression in the late 1920s early 30s. It isn't just a financial poverty though, it is a moral, and spiritual poverty, fuelled by a ridiculous political agenda that has attempted to 'make all people equal', enforce 'political correctness' to the point that it hampers the creation of work. Give employees more rights to sue their employer for discipline in the workplace, than the employer has to dismiss someone for gross misconduct without six months of papertrail to back it up. There are unscrupulous Employers out there I agree, but these days genuine employers are struggling under the burden of red tape, risk assessments, health and safety legislation, and administration of their employees tax and social security that running a business that actually produces something is becoming a rare beast. I would never employ anyone again. Yet I am exactly the sort of person who can create jobs. Trying to make everyone 'wealthy' has lead to more people in poverty, and struggling with debt management, and a huge chasm between those who are ridiculously overpaid, and those who are considered of no value to society. There was an old rhyme that ended with the moral, 'It is the privalage of the wealthy man to employ the artisan'. 'Working' people used to be very proud of their heritage, skills, dedication, and excellence. No matter what they did with their hands. I do not condone the riots in the UK right now, but it seems to me as though the perfect looking apples and pears on the trees have finally shown the rotten insect blown core that has been festering for so long. Big wake up call then. I think boot camp in the Welsh/Scottish mountains for a few months might be better than sticking all those people in gaol. Aren't retired forces supposed to be on permanent recall for crisis such as this? Besides, we probably have a lot of Army to bring home soon, might as well get them to re-train all these yobs to do something useful. Like teaching them how to live in tents in the middle of nowhere, without phones, drugs, alcohol and computor games and TV! Some very strenuous excercise, army surplus kit, and a haircut and no hoodies! |
