I think we could do with a joint exclusion Zone, and a communal fishing ground licenced to specific fleets to make the middle ground a fish breeding zone. Give the fish a voice I say!
Make it a marine park, and get our islands stocked up better. Don't allow anyone to fish the exclusion Zone off say the 3 mile offshore limit in the overlap area. This benefits everyone. It can be policed with satellite tracking these days, so just put a tracker on licenced shipping. Any unlicenced fishing can pay a really serious fine and have their boat confiscated!
Solomon had the wisdom to offer a comprimse of cutting a child in half, lets see this one put into practice with a fish fight!
Same goes for China and USA money propping. Neither jurisdicton is allowing a buffer zone on protecting it's own sustainablity, so factor some impots duty on foreign goods. Obviously the Chinese will buy home produced goods to sustain their own market, as they are artificially cheaper at home as well.
Impots duty in the buying country to level the playing field to the consumer is a real deterrent, then give the money to someone who needs it to develop their own infrastrucutre like the Horn of Africa and that wretched drought caused by too many dams on the Nile.
Someone else's weather affects your own, so unless China wants a ruddy great flood in their new Shanghai terminal they had better get wise to how their pollution affects everybody else and ends up as mud on their own doorstep.
I know the engineering solutions were sensationally good, but it is built on rather shaky mud, you only need an underground river to pump up the volume and it will sink!
