I was thinking it all started off with Robinsons Jam and the little Golly pins that came with it. Gollys were a very popular toy for us kids in my generation. It was hard as a child to understand the reasons why my Golly*** had to just be called Golly... This was something never before encountered as a generation of homemade felt doll lovers. Think a precurser to Cabbage patch dolls.
Our Mothers had to make them. Ideal for birthdays and Chrismas on a budget. My mum taught me to Hand sew on a Golly. I remember making it. I suppose I am reminded of my early sewing days because its raining heavily and I am sorting my sewing tray into a proper sewing box I bought at Auction yesterday. My old one fell to bits years ago. ( Both Golly and the sewing box).
Anyway I think Wog was probably the first word I had to learn not to say. Incredible how many words have joined that one. Perhaps we could just redesignate the meanings of lost words. I dont like losing words.
We have a friend who's nickname from School is Wog. It has stuck and I can't think of any other name that works for Him and He is definately not a tinge of Black. He might get freckles though in a good summer.
Wog. I think it needs to be a game. Rather like a Beetle Drive game. Anyway I am still going to be using the word all the while my friend uses it as a nickname!
Heh! I could add it to the list of silly poochy names I call my dog. It smacks of the scurrulous hysteria surrounding the Pug dog that has the Hitler paw shake. It must be asking for a treat. Dogs do anything for a good fishy snack. Anyway its not the dogs fault it has an unfortunat touch of Tourettes Syndrome...
My dog is having a Duvet Day. She has had breakfast, and gone back to bed. She doesnt like wet paws. Or getting wet behind the ears. What are we Mice or Moles, or Voles? Hopefully Johnny English will step in as Prime Minister and inject some serious consideration to the terminology of the four letter word afficionados, before we get censored to extinction on a no deal Brexit!
Joy of a rainy day to you, remember its really liquid Sunshine, and you might get to see raibows later. Another Joyous Creation of Gods Firmament. So far I havent been Persid Spotting. It rained all last night, so our resevoirs must be topped up. Another blessing for our little Island.
Right, it should start clearing up now for our Battle of Flowers Carnival this afternoon. Never been known to be rained off...
Have a day of Joyous blessings Everyone.
Pax.
