I understand the laws are pretty much following the UK laws. Hooray!
This is good news. The sooner everyone else follows this initiative, and also has the opportunity to review past cases as well the better.
These vulture funds further impoverish poor countries where past regimes have run into hopeless debt. Basing economies on debt repayments just seems madness. I am sure if there was some way of cancelling everyones debts, and asking richer countries to spend on poorer countries infrastructure it would be a safer and more harmonious world. Jubilee is the movement to cancel debts.
At the moment there is simply financial warfare going on all over the place. Sanctions for political reasons to change governments, arming and funding of guerilla warfare, the world simply can't be at peace with itself. I wonder if the money spent on wars simply put to peaceful use would solve a lot of issues?
Another of my 'things' is about space junk. There was a bit on the news a few days ago about how cluttered it is up in the heavens. I am sure I wrote a bit about it last year. Anyway it's going to cost a lot to clean it all up, and it's getting quite dangerous. It's a pity you don't have to apply for planning permission to put something up there. We might just be causing global weather change because of the amount of shade this lot of junk puts us in.
I am not going to use the phrase 'Global Warming', as I don't think it's accurate. I think we are having a 'Weather Change' because of a number of factors. Magnetic North is wandering about all over the place, so I think that somehow affects the Jet streams. We have too much pollution in our atmosphere from airplane moisture trails and the aforementioned space junk, so I guess the temperature is a degree or so lower.
Not to mention weather seeding! We all know it happens. The whole planet needs a rest from our tampering. I also think we are going through a new bit of space that acts slightly differently to what we are used to. I think it's normal for us to go through this but not very often, probably something like every 25 thousand years! Anyway it makes life interesting.
Imagine if we had some massive solar storm as well that fried all the satelites. How would we manage without those mobile phones, the internet, navigation instruments. Would civilisation as we know it grind to a halt? Well it would stop all that stock market activity wiring money all over the place I suppose.
I wonder if by the next 100 years people will look back and say this was when the world was insane to base it's whole infrastructure on technology that is so vunerable, perhaps sooner! Imagine going back to manual banking! at least more people would have jobs.
Oh well, it seems I am often right about the things I write here. I for one would be happy to go back to a cash based society, and cheques that are written honourably. Those PDQ machines cost the retailer a fortune, and encourage us not to be in touch with our spending. They are useful for debit cards, but I actually think credit cards cost us far more than we realise. They are like those flowers that trap flies and eat them.
Thanks to people who do follow my ramblings, and make the odd comment. It is interesting to hear from other people. Might as well enjoy the internet while we have it!
