Having bought two packets at £15.30, as opposed to 5 packets for £26 quid, and no prospect of more duty free for a good few weeks, I am giving the non smoking option a try.
The old brain has tried a few sneaky onsloughts this morning. I will let you know what they all were later!
I wonder if there is a way to put this together as a non smoking option, for smokers! I am even managing a brewed coffee without the usual 'got to have a smoke' with this thing... interesting! More Later.
Well, I got through to 4pm without a cigarette. Yes I did decide to sate the dire need! However this is a vast improvement, and titrating down the nicotine requirements seems reasonable.
This morning I was mildly surprised at having a sneaky dialogue going on from my addictive personality. Sort of mild grumblings/mumblings about deprivation, unfairness, and the amount of personal suffering it would cause me... Interesting to hear these rather feeble arguments!
I pointed out that I was just excercising an option, and that in no way was I going to be unkind to any serious nicotine requirements should the nicotine receptors feel they were indeed under insufferable torment.
I also pointed out that should I happen to take a long 'plane journey, they could not expect gratification during transit, and that this was a reasonable scenario to get them used to a significant period without gratification. Well that was fine, the negotiation was accepted. I didn't have any trouble all day, nor any further discussion on the matter.
Having been out and about, I realised that I did not want a battle of wills over a denial of access to the tobacco pouch for the little receptors as I arrived home. I did point out that we could probably afford to ration a small packet between us, and that this would be a possibility provided that they didn't start creating a song and dance over the whole affair. I suggested that a small packet genuinely rationed to last seven days would be acceptable to me. They are thinking about it, and there is a bit of an argument going on among themselves.
Some are pointing out that I could easily just go cold turkey on the whole affair, and that within a very short time none of them get any nicotine, and they would all have to get another job. I am not sure if this is a ploy of some sort on the part of the accomodating lot, and if they are hiding something up their dendrils.
It is easier to trust a screaming howling nicotine starved receptor cell, they just aren't hiding anything!
Well being a self confessed mad person is fine by me, I quite enjoyed the conversation although I pointed out that I wasn't prepared to get pally and chat with them on a regular basis, as I would consider that I might need to chat to the psychiatrist about it. Anyway, they have ample opportunity to become conformist neurons and join in the blog.
So Heh, I am giving my road map to peace in the smoking v health/financail ruin a try.
