I can’t wait for the dog to get her bones out her nice warm basket this morning. It’s about 2013 since we had Snow. Most dogs go bananas when they find it’s been snowing.
Our Government took the ‘precaution’ of shutting the Schools today. I think that is very generous. Our kids need to get out in it. There isn’t enough to make snowmen and snow angels yet, but hopefully there will be later.
Our sister Islands just twenty miles North had heavy Snow for two days. We were feeling left out.
The wind is moaning away nicely, so they will have to get very bundled up to go and play. It’s also a very dry powder snow which I have never seen here. Very fine and dusty sort of Snow. It’s magical.
Tyke’s boyfriends are Samoyeds. I can’t wait to see how they will play in it. They will roll all over it.
I am hoping my friend will walk them round past our house to see them in the snow.
My Husband will have to phone the Hospital to cancel His warfarin test this morning. There is no point driving today. We aren’t used to driving in Snow of any kind. The roads were icy on the hills yesterday and people were having problems. It’s just all our minor roads are tiny little lanes. Anyway it keeps the roads clear for emergency vehicles.
Its wonderful how Snow sort of muffles everything. I have very acute hearing, as though everything has an echo to it. When the snow comes it’s like everything is just quiet. Like having cotton wool stuck in your ears.
Its strange how random my thoughts can be sometimes. I was just thinking about how our tilers had to order another two boxes of the floor tiles we recently had our floor changed for. I know we ordered enough, with 10% over. We were told if there were any left they could be returned. They had to order another two boxes at approximately 1.2m square. There was hardly any wastage either. We kept a few extra just in case anything got broken, but that doesn’t explain how everyone who measured the floor came up with the same amount of tiles to order.
I know the inside side of our House now looks much bigger since we took out a wall between the kitchen and the lounge, but if the tiler is correct, it must be at least ten percent bigger than it should be inside. It’s just one of those mad warping things God does. It does look bigger, and I don’t think it is just optical illusion.
Anyway it’s quite a fun thought! I like my little World, Anything can happen! I am not going to even try to explain this to my Husband. We were mystified that we had to go and buy more tiles.
I have just remembered this happened to some friends years ago when they had an extension built. They invited all their friends round for a party so we were invited. This exact same situation was explained to me. I went High immediately. I think I ended up going into Hospital I was so off the planet. Really quite wierd. Anyway at least it’s happened to someone else we know.
I feel a bit odd saying this, but if this is the case of having to lay more tiles in a given area, then I must thank God for making my house bigger. It doesn’t make sense I know. But ‘Thankyou God, for extending our house’. I don’t think I can dwell on this too much, as it will send me a bit la la.
Bring on the Snow today. The kids need to play in it. For us here in our little spot in the Channel it’s a miracle of nature we don’t see very often. I realise it’s causing havoc, but in Childhood these days there seems to be little that are the simple God Given pleasures of chucking snowballs. I know I will end up with some of it down my back today!
I Have just had a thought. My Husband wants a new bathroom. I was going to start thinking about this project much later this year. I am just deciding how much to budget for it though. I will be ring fencing the money for it every month. I had better just decide on the budget, and then add 10% to it, in case God does the same thing with the bathroom!
The Red Squirrels are flying this morning. They must like the Snow too. A lot of gleeful leaping about going on in the trees. I am just going to make the birds some food. I think that duck fat mixed with the bird seed would be nice for them. I make porridge, then mix in the fat. Then pour in the birdseed. It sticks it all together very nicely. I can’t think the peanut butter will hurt them that much, so I will put a few spoons of that in as well. Perhaps it’s just me that this refined sugar is so bad for.
I have just realised, I can justify buying kippers for a few meals a week, I must ask my Husband how much He likes Kippers. Perhaps I could make things like smoked kipper pate, and use them to make Kedgeree. I have to say I feel a bit of a Kipper over these tiles.
